The Choices We Make
I walked away from my marriage because my husband was cheating. I couldn’t bear the betrayal, the pain. I had to leave—for myself, for my kids.
With them by my side, I stepped into the world, determined to build a life on my own terms. I worked tirelessly, pushing through exhaustion, but no matter how hard I tried, it was never enough. Bills kept piling up, school fees loomed, and the weight of responsibility felt crushing.
Then, I met him—a wealthy man. He was married, but at that point, it didn’t matter. I told myself I was just doing what I had to do. I had to survive, had to prove I was strong and independent. If being with him meant securing a better future for my children, then so be it.
But as time passed, something shifted. I started thinking about the women my husband cheated on me with. Maybe they were just like me—women trying to make ends meet, trying to live.
Then reality struck in the cruelest way. I called the married man one evening, and he snapped at me. “You should know when I’m home,” he whispered harshly, afraid his wife would hear. It stung. Suddenly, I saw myself from the outside—was this really my life now?
I thought about my past, my pain, and ironically, my consolation. At least when I was married, my husband was still mine—even if he cheated, he was mine.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I reached out to my ex-husband. I wanted to know how he was doing. That’s when I found out—he had remarried. A younger woman had taken my place.
Then he came to visit. He saw the kids, left some money behind. We talked, reminisced… and one thing led to another.
The man I left for cheating was now cheating on his new wife—with me.
So here I was, involved with two married men, both cheating on their wives.
And I told myself life wasn’t fair.
But deep down, I knew—life was just a reflection of the choices we make.
As bad as it sounds, this is the reality of our time. Some mistakes are irreversible.
Wise people learn from the mistakes of others. Don't leave your home just because he cheats. It rains everywhere.
Love is still beautiful.
